National Geographic Traveller (UK) Awards nominations

LONDON (14 November 2014) – National Geographic Traveller has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards on the eve of its fourth birthday.

With BSME, AITO, PPA and the British Travel Awards all holding their award ceremonies in the coming weeks, National Geographic Traveller has been shortlisted for Editor of the Year, Travel Writer of the Year, Designer of the Year, Cover of the Year and Best Consumer Holiday Magazine.

Pat Riddell has been shortlisted for the Editor of the Year, Lifestyle in the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Awards taking place on 17 November at The Brewery, London.

Four contributors have been shortlisted for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) Travel Writer of the Year award — Helen Warwick, Chris Peacock, Pol O Conghaile and Nicky Trup. The winner will be announced on 18 November at Central Hall Westminster, London.

The magazine has reached the final three in the Best Consumer Holiday Magazine category in the British Travel Awards, held on 26 November at Battersea Evolution, London.

And finally, Chris Hudson has been shortlisted for Designer of the Year at the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Independent Publisher Awards as well as Cover of the Year, to be held on the 5 December at the Montcalm Hotel, London.

Pat Riddell, editor, said: “These are exciting times for the magazine with several nominations during the end-of-year awards season, as well as our move to 10 issues a year, a relaunched website and a new, interactive app set to launch soon. Fingers crossed that we’ll win one or two, but to make the shortlist for any of these prestigious awards is a huge success for a magazine that is only just celebrating its fourth birthday. Let’s hope another year of hard work will bring further plaudits in 2015.”

Maria Pieri, editorial director, said: “The nominations are a testament to the hard work of a very talented and creative team at National Geographic Traveller. We are proud to receive these nominations and we look forward to building on this excellent work with the aim of further success in 2015.”
