INTERVIEW

Law unto her own

With the impending release of her new film, GI Joe, Sienna

Miller talks fighting, fashion and friendship

Tell us about GI Joe

I play a baddie and fi ght GI Joe, which is a big group of elite warriors and fi ghters. I wear leather and black wigs and do things that are completely foreign to me, such as fi ring guns with live ammunition and boxing and kicking.

You’ve done a wide range of films. How did GI Joe compare?

It was a really exciting project. I’ve never done a huge studio movie like GI Joe before and felt it was time to do something where I wasn’t having a breakdown, addicted to heroin or dying — a fi lm that people enjoy seeing and aren’t left damaged. It was another world: the fi lm had a huge budget and I’ve never done fi ght training before, so it was completely new.

Have you still got your muscles from training?

They’ve unfortunately all withered away. A lot of the fi ght stuff was months ago and since then I haven’t really been good about keeping up an exercise regime. But I’m a little bit fi tter than I was.

Tell us about your fashion line…

It gives me an opportunity to work with my sister, which is wonderful as I don’t get to spend enough time with her. Obviously, my involvement is really great for the label, but my passion is acting.

Is fashion something that determines your mood?

I think people think I’m more into fashion than I am.

I don’t have a stylist and I don’t really plan out what I’m going to wear. It’s thrown together and I often look quite dishevelled.

You and Keira Knightley are really good friends — it must be nice to have someone like her to chat to about paparazzi invasion

It’s great to have a partner in crime who you can complain to without feeling spoilt. From the outside, it looks like the good life and we’re just moaning, but it’s really threatening when 10 grown men are chasing you for a story.

And is it true you might be buying a house in Wales?

I would love to one day. Wales is the most beautiful place on earth — it’s idyllic. And I love the Welsh too, which defi nitely helps ...
