LISTINGS Art & Exhibitions: Summer show The Royal Academy of Arts is showcasing a world-class display of work, says Alex Dalzell The Royal Academy of Arts is a stickler for tradition, which may explain why its Summer Exhibition has been running every year since 1768 without fail. This seasonal showcase has built up a strong reputation in the art world and today stands as the world’s largest regular contemporary art exhibition. What makes this exhibition special is Coinciding with the Summer Exhibition 2009 is an exhibition of Pre-Raphaelites — in the Sackler wing of galleries — by 19th-century artist J. W. Waterhouse, featuring more than 40 paintings, together with sketchbooks and drawings from public and private collections worldwide. The Summer Exhibition is running from 8 June until 16 August and is open from
10am-6pm, while the J. W. Waterhouse: The Modern Pre-Raphaelite exhibition is on
