Star Alliance Case Study



The global airline alliance Star Alliance wanted to commemorate their 20th anniversary by promoting a cultural experience particular to each of their international hubs. The aim was to celebrate the diversity of experiences and activities available when travelling with Star Alliance’s airlines.

In partnership with National Geographic magazine, our creative team carefully sourced and produced written material for an interactive mapping tool on the National Geographic and Star Alliance websites. After close consultation with the client, we developed cultural experiences unique to each carrier’s hub, which ranged from intimate home dining in Shenzhen, China, to heritage tile painting in Lisbon and street art in São Paulo. We then paired these ideas with corresponding imagery before presentation to the client.


The finalised images and ideas were then translated into the interactive mapping tool on the Star Alliance website, accessible directly from the homepage. The map was part of a wider feature in partnership with National Geographic Travel’s Digital Nomad, Robert Reid, whose experiential videos complemented the interactive map.
