
Award wins and panel discussions: APL Media’s spring 2026 highlights
Although it’s only been three months since the start of the year, there’s already been plenty of reasons to celebrate at APL Media. From attending various panels and talks to winning prestigious awards or joining their judging boards, APL Media’s teams have been busy setting up the year for success.
Staff highlights
- Kira Richards was recognised as Young Travel Journalist of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
- Chief executive officer Matthew Jackson celebrated his 50th birthday and 27 years of working at APL Media. See more here.
- Associate editor Orla Thomas was a guest speaker at Visit Portugal Conference 2026. Read more here.
- Various members of the sales team travelled to Berlin to attend ITB 2026 and FITUR in Madrid. See more here.
- Executive editor Lorna Parkes attended parliament for the annual LATA (Latin American Travel Association) reception with MPs, tour operators and some of the producers of reality TV show Race Across the World.
- Chief operating officer & editorial director Maria Pieri delivered a talk about travel and lifestyle publishing to Oxford Brookes University’s MA in Journalism students. She also shared insights on commissioning and pitching.
- Maria also joined the judging panel for the PPA Awards and the BSME Talent Awards.
- Sarah Barrell completed a diploma in Psychology: Humanistic Integrative Counselling after two years of studying part-time alongside her role as senior editor at APL Media.
- Berkok Yüksel joined the panel discussion Secrets of Successful Newsletters by the BSME alongside other industry professionals.
