People’s Choice winner revealed in the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Photography Competition 

Following six weeks of the public exhibition of finalist and shortlisted images from the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Photography Competition hosted in London’s Granary Square, the People’s Choice winner can now be revealed as Bingqian Gao. 

Sponsored by Hahnemühle and King’s Cross, the competition received thousands of submissions, and a shortlist of 80 of the judges’ top selections were on display on large-format benches in Granary Square until 12 July.  

Visitors to the area were invited to vote for their favourites from the shortlist via QR on the benches. Bingqian’s series of photographs, titled By Way of Water, in the Portfolio category of the competition received more than a quarter of all the votes cast. Many congratulations to her for this remarkable achievement and worthy win. 

The portfolio celebrates the connection between people and the world’s waterways through a series of underwater, aerial and split-level images, exploring oceans, rivers and cenotes from fresh perspectives. Thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition and voted.

The fantastic public response to the exhibition, which also featured the award-winning shots selected by the competition judges, is a testament to the power of visual storytelling to make an audience feel inspired by and in awe of the world around us.
