StarTalk Live! Lisbon: Neil deGrasse Tyson makes European debut

LISBON (26 September 2026): Now in its seventeeth year, the internationally acclaimed science podcast StarTalk, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, is coming to Europe for the first time this October, with StarTalk Live! Lisbon taking place at Sala Tejo on Thursday 15 October. 

Produced by APL Media in collaboration with Media Curved Light Productions, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal (Visit Portugal) and the Portuguese Space Agency, the event will see Neil deGrasse Tyson joined on stage by comedian and StarTalk co-host Chuck Nice for a special evening combining astrophysics, pop culture and comedy. TAP Air Portugal is also the official airline partner for StarTalk Live! in Lisbon. 

The Lisbon event marks the European debut of StarTalk Live!, the touring live version of StarTalk, the science podcast hosted by astrophysicist, author and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson. The show will explore the science and stories behind space exploration through the trademark mix of scientific insight, humour and popular culture that’s made StarTalk a global phenomenon. 

The event forms part of a wider programme taking place in Lisbon during the week commencing 13 October, with the main live show on Thursday 15 October. The programme will celebrate Portugal’s growing profile in space science and its place on the international stage for science, technology and exploration. 

TAP Air Portugal has been confirmed as the official airline partner for StarTalk Live! in Lisbon, supporting the programme as it brings the internationally renowned show and its team to Portugal for its first European edition. 

It comes during a landmark year for science and discovery in Portugal, which has also seen the country experience the 2026 solar eclipse and the publication of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s new book, Take Me to Your Leader — bringing together science, education and entertainment with Portugal’s international tourism ambitions.

The main  StarTalk Live! in Lisbon show will take place at Sala Tejo on Thursday 15 October, with capacity for an audience of 1,800. 
 
The Lisbon programme will also include additional activities involving the StarTalk team, including a podcast recording and a book signing at Livraria Bertrand Chiado, the world’s oldest operating bookshop.
