National Geographic Traveller (UK) writer celebrated at the BGTW Awards

On Sunday 18 April, Adrian Phillips won the Travel Feature of the Year — non UK prize at the British Guild of Travel Writers (BGTW) Members’ Excellence Awards for a National Geographic Traveller (UK) feature.

Mountains, myths and monsters: exploring the folklore of Austria’s dramatic Hochkönig region”, Adrian’s piece on storied hamlets, ice caves and gorges in the Austrian Alps, was published in the April 2020 issue of the magazine as well as one the website.

Emma Thomson was also shortlisted in the Transport Feature of the Year category for her “Life on the longest river: sailing 140 miles along the Nile” piece, published in the September 2019 issue of the magazine.

Nori Jemil, meanwhile, was shortlisted in the Travel Photo Feature of the Year category for her National Geographic Traveller photo story on Turkey’s Pamukkale region, published in the November 2019 issue.
