APL Media Limited seeks a junior to mid-weight creative designer to join their fast-growing design team working across mobile, tablet, web and in print.

If you have an excellent eye for detail and a passion for creating strong visuals for magazines and digital projects – and are able to work to deadlines – then we’d like to meet you. Perhaps you have some experience of running your own project – print or digital – but if not, what counts is your willingness to get stuck in, learn, grow and become part of a superb team. As part of this role you’ll be liaising with the editorial and production departments as well as clients to ensure you can meet the requested briefs. Being fluent in InDesign is a given, with some experience of digital design skills such as HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Adobe DPS a plus.

Design responsibilities
To assist in designing all our content across all platforms from print to digital editions (apps, page turning magazines), newsletters (using HTML) and websites. Our portfolio includes ABTA Magazine, ASTAnetwork, Supplements, Newspaper Inserts, CountryByCountry.com, Destination: Vacation, Directories, a Golf special, National Geographic Traveller (UK), Media Packs, Stationery and new projects. Skills required
• Mac OSX
• InDesign – Creative Suite or Creative Cloud
• Adobe DPS
• Photoshop
• Illustrator
• Office programmes – including Word and Excel
• Acrobat Reader/Distiller and familiarity with making PDFs
• Dreamweaver
• HTML and CSS
• An understanding of the digital process
• Project management

Job spec
• Report to the Editorial Director and Group Art Editor
• Working as part of the design team, leading projects once trained
• Liaising with editorial team and sales
• Working on all aspects of design and on individual projects from concept to publication
• Client liaison where required
• Picture management: image researching and picture budgeting, sourcing illustrators/pictures, talking to picture libraries and working with a picture researcher
• Project management
