Did you pick up a copy of The Telegraph, the Guardian or the Evening Standard this month? If so, you might have seen the return of APL Media’s annual Food & Drink guides, each one jam-packed with recipes, product roundups and expert insights into this summer’s hottest culinary trends.

The editorial team caught up with winner of the Michelin Young Chef Award 2023, Sarah Hayward, for The Telegraph to find out what she loves about being the head chef at The Coach in Marlow, under Tom Kerridge, and how she’ll be using her favourite British produce this summer.

“There’s not a chef in the country who won’t use Isle of Wight tomatoes when they’re in season,” Hayward said. “Just the smell of them, their vines and the flavour they have is amazing. Being an apprentice chef on the Isle of Wight, I learned to respect ingredients. The fish we’d get from the fishmonger would turn up at the back door still flapping.”

Meanwhile, Deano Moncrieffe, founder of one of London’s first agaverias and creator of the award-winning Mirror Margarita, gave us the lowdown on the cocktail that’s set to take the summer by storm, for the Guardian. And in the Evening Standard, we rounded up the capital’s best rooftop bars and outdoor terraces for your next al fresco get-together.

And to celebrate the return of the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Food Festival, which takes place on 15-16 July at the London Business Design Centre, we gave readers a sneak peek at what to expect when the biggest names on the global culinary scene come together in two weeks’ time.
