APL Media’s Kira Richards talks Mexico, travel journalism and more on BBC Radio London
APL Media is pleased to share that assistant project editor, Kira Richards, appeared as a guest on BBC Radio London on Tuesday 9 December.
Kira — who works across APL Media projects such as the Travel Media Awards Step Up scheme, as well as editorial and branded content for National Geographic Traveller (UK) — was invited to the studio at New Broadcasting House for the station’s evening programme, Sounds of the City, hosted by Kim Davis.
The special edition of the programme was produced in collaboration with journalism students at City St George’s, University of London — Kira’s alma mater. Kira was asked about her career in travel and food journalism, whether you need a degree to work in the industry and her recent trip to Mexico.
Of the radio appearance, Kira says: “It was an incredibly exciting experience to be interviewed live in the BBC Radio London studio by Kim. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share more about the work I do across APL Media’s portfolio — hopefully it will encourage more young people from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in the travel sector.”
