Celebrating Maria Pieri’s role as a judge at the PPA Next Generation Awards 2024

APL Media is thrilled to announce that Maria Pieri, editorial director and COO, has been selected as a judge for the PPA Next Generation Awards 2024. The awards celebrate the rising stars of the UK specialist media industry, particularly those under 30 who are making significant contributions and innovations in their fields. 

Maria said: “I’m honoured to be a judge for the PPA Next Generation Awards 2024, which support the rising stars in the media industry. If you are under 30 and a trailblazer in the UK specialist media industry, these awards are for you. I’m really looking forward to reading about your achievements. Good luck to all.” 

The PPA (Professional Publishers Association) Next Generation Awards aim to acknowledge the hard work, creativity and impact of young professionals in the media sector. With categories spanning various specialisms, the awards provide a platform for young media professionals to showcase their talents and gain recognition from industry leaders. 

Maria Pieri’s involvement as a judge underscores her commitment to nurturing new talent and her belief in the importance of celebrating the achievements of young professionals.  

Separately, Maria has been instrumental in supporting young talent with the launch of the Travel Media Awards Step Up scheme, which offers paid internships to aspiring travel journalists from diverse backgrounds. In addition, she has overseen APL Media’s own internship programme and the Youth Travel Media internship programme, giving young people the opportunity to work on a variety of media projects.
