Explore Ecuador with National Geographic Traveller (UK)
The National Geographic Traveller (UK) branded content team worked with Ecuador Tourism to highlight the country’s rich culture, cuisine and communities through a comprehensive, multi-platform campaign in 2024. The goal was to inspire travellers to explore the lesser-known attractions of Ecuador, bringing the destination to life through impactful digital and visual experiences, as well as real-world interactions.

Campaign highlights
On-the-ground adventure
A commissioned writer, photographer and video team embarked on a week-long journey through Ecuador, immersing themselves in the country’s traditions and capturing authentic experiences to share with our audience.
Engaging digital content
Six dedicated articles were produced that showcased unique aspects of Ecuadorian culture and provided practical tips for visitors. These articles were hosted on a specially created branded hub on nationalgeographic.com
Captivating video content
A two-and-a-half-minute feature video, hosted on YouTube, focused on the people of Ecuador and their fascinating customs and traditions, from festivals to cuisine. This video featured interviews with locals, offering a deep dive into what Ecuador means to them.

Physical activation
Ecuadorian cuisine and culture were prominently featured at the July 2024 National Geographic Traveller (UK) Food Festival in London. Attendees were treated to an immersive experience that brought the campaign to life.
Social media and newsletter campaign
Targeted social media posts, including two 30-second trailers of the video content, drove awareness and engagement. Additionally, prominent placements in National Geographic Traveller (UK) newsletters boosted traffic to the campaign content.
National press coverage
Double-page advertorials in The Guardian and London Standard Travel Guides (May and July 2024) highlighted the campaign, reaching a broad audience of travel enthusiasts.
Separately, Ecuador Tourism has also become the latest sponsor for the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival 2025, with plans in place for a new campaign confirmed.
