National Geographic Traveller (UK) announces Travel Geeks: Rush Hour
LONDON (7 March 2016) — National Geographic Traveller (UK) will be regularly hosting Travel Geeks: Rush Hour after its launch success at London’s Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show.
This new informal series of after-work get-togethers brings together experts, writers, readers and travellers in an open forum to talk about travel. Meet the National Geographic Traveller (UK) team, talk to specialists, listen to their experiences and be inspired by readers. The events will cover top tips, technical know-how and writing and photography advice.
The events are tailored to fit into participants’ busy schedules. Travel Geeks: Rush Hour lasts for just one hour, during which guests can share a drink and join in with the lively debate.
The first event takes place on 5 April 2016 and will cover Travel Writing, with the editors of National Geographic Traveller (UK) sharing their tips for successful travel writing, as well as providing an insight into the inner workings of the magazine. Plus, there will be plenty of opportunity for attendees to share ideas and discuss their experiences.
Maria Pieri, editorial director of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said: “We look forward to rolling out these events to bring those with a passion for travel together to share their experiences and perhaps discover something new, too. It was great fun to trial the idea at the London’s Destinations Show and it seemed to be an event that really captured imaginations.
“For this first event on Travel Writing, there’s the added bonus of meeting three of our senior team, hearing about their experiences, asking their advice or even sharing some ideas of your own. It’s an excellent opportunity to become a Travel Geek! ”
