National Geographic Traveller (UK) reveals the world’s best new and improved hotels in its Hotel Awards 2025

National Geographic Traveller (UK) celebrates the best new and renovated hotels across the world, announcing the winners of its annual Hotel Awards.

From bold design and clever use of architecture to incredible locations and a dedication to serving the finest local food, the Hotel Awards acknowledge the latest innovators in the business.

Each of the 10 categories has a winner and two runners-up, meaning a total of 30 hotels received recognition in this year’s awards. The full results can be seen in the November 2025 issue of National Geographic Traveller (UK), on newsstands from 2 October.

Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said: “The hotel industry continues to surprise, with ever-more inventive openings and refurbishments every year, and a commitment to the finest guest experience at the forefront of each one. Our team of travel experts looked at new lodges, retreats, guesthouses and conversions across the world, and selected the very best for our annual awards.

“The Hotel Awards 2025 reflects the creativity and passion of owners and designers who have the ability to make a temporary place to stay feel like a dream home from home. Discover a cool designer pad in Mexico; a retro-hip motel along Route 66; a 19th-century building commissioned by a queen and reinvented as a boutique hotel in Stockholm; a remote retreat on the Sardinian coast; a farm-turned-food-retreat in Dorset, England — and plenty more besides.”

The judging panel consisted of Amanda Canning, Duncan Craig, Zoey Goto, Ellen Himelfarb, Justin Meneguzzi, Daniel Stables, Jonathan Thompson and Kerry Walker.

The winners are:

  • Revamped Hotel: W Prague, Czech Republic
  • Wellness Haven: Anantara Ubud Bali Resort, Indonesia
  • Remote Escape: Hotel Le Dune Piscinas, Sardinia, Italy
  • Food Hero: Fowlescombe Farm, Devon, England
  • Budget Break: Élysée Montmartre Hotel, Paris, France
  • Romantic Bolthole: Palacete Severo, Porto, Portugal
  • Designer Den: Hotel Humano, Puerto Escondido, Mexico
  • Clever Conversion: Stockholm Stadshotell, Sweden
  • Eco Retreat: Populus Denver, Colorado, US
  • One-of-a-kind: Kibale Lodge, Uganda
