The Luxury Collection by National Geographic Traveller (UK) is on newsstand now!
This autumn, The Luxury Collection by National Geographic Traveller (UK) explores the rising appeal of expert-led escapes — trips where curiosity is encouraged and insights are shared by some of the world’s most remarkable minds.
According to ABTA’s 2025 Travel Trends Report, more than 60% of UK travellers say they value immersive, educational experiences more than ever before, demonstrating a clear shift towards meaningful escapes that offer insight as well as indulgence.
Charlotte Wigram-Evans, editor, said: “On a recent expedition to Greenland, a team of experts turned every moment into a masterclass. Brent, the resident geologist, was a walking encyclopaedia, revealing the story of the land written in stone, from ancient tectonic upheavals to rocks metamorphosed over a billion years ago. Under his guidance, the fjords felt less like a frozen wilderness and more like a vast, intricate library to explore.”
It’s that spirit of discovery we celebrate in this issue, from uncovering the secrets of Antarctica’s penguin colonies alongside renowned ornithologists to witnessing a solar eclipse in Egypt guided by leading scientists.
Luxury tour operators such as Black Tomato and Steppes Travel have also reported a 30% increase in demand for trips guided by scientists, historians and creatives, proof that today’s traveller wants to leave not only with memories, but with knowledge.
