This week’s top travel trends

(Thursday 14 November) These are the top three travel trends that caught our attention this week:

Christmas and New Year travel trends revealed
Online travel agency Opodo has revealed that Brits are travelling more this Christmas season compared to last year, with a 33% increase in the number of people booked to fly between the end of December and the first week of January. While Spain ranks as the favourite country and Cape Town as the top city, the most-booked destination is the UK itself.

Top travel destinations for Gen Z
Nestpick.com has conducted a poll asking Gen Z-ers based in the US, UK, Europe, and China about their top urban travel destinations. New York City is the number-one city among young Europeans, while Paris is the top spot for Americans and Chinese. Tokyo is the favoured choice in Asia, while Dubai ranks as the top destination in the MENA region.

Virtuoso’s top experiences for 2020
With authenticity as one of the year’s top trends, Virtuoso recommends living like a local in Italy for a month, supporting the Bahamas after the devastating effect of Hurricane Dorian or visiting the unspoiled scenery of Antarctica. Other experiences include enjoying the slow travel trend with a rail journey around the Canadian Rockies or country-hopping on a private jet, taking in destinations such as Easter Island, Petra and the Taj Mahal.
