Travel Geeks: a culinary tour of Israel
To kick off the New Year, on 19 January National Geographic Traveller (UK) teamed up with the Israel Tourist Office to host an event about the heart of Israeli life: its food.
Travel Geeks: mountains, moonshine and barbecue
From bluegrass music and wild horses to family adventures and farm-to-table eating and craft beer, this webinar hosted by National Geographic Traveller (UK) discussed all things North Carolina.
Travel Geeks: exploring rural Japan
For another event in its Travel Geeks series, National Geographic Traveller and the Japan National Tourism Organization hosted a discussion on the adventures to be had beyond the country’s classic ‘golden route’.
National Geographic Traveller The Masterclasses online
National Geographic Traveller brought back its annual Masterclasses — in-depth lectures and workshops to illuminate the art of travel writing and photography — from 19-21 April with a series of online courses.
Travel Geeks: cities, culture and cuisine of Italy
On 27 April, National Geographic Traveller hosted a Travel Geeks event with Citalia to help the audience discover lesser-known sides to the much-loved country, touching on Italy’s foods, wines, festivals and more.
Travel Geeks: adventure, cities and natural icons in Australia’s Northern Territories
On May 11, another digital National Geographic Traveller Travel Geeks event, this time sponsored by Tourism NT, saw a panel of experts come together to discuss how best to explore this Australian region, from its landscapes and cities to its culture and food.
National Geographic Traveller event on South Australian wines
On 1 June, for an event sponsored by the South Australian Tourism Commission, wine expert Olly Smith and a wine-loving panel discussed the people, food, drink and landscapes that make Adelaide an inspirational destination.
A list of detailed tasting notes was sent to viewers in advance. A limited number of VIP tickets, which included a tasting box with six wines and gave exclusive access to a 30-minute Q&A with the panel, was also available.
Travel Geeks: adventures in the Yukon
On 7 September, National Geographic Traveller (UK) hosted Travel Geeks: adventures in the Yukon, an online event sponsored by Travel Yukon all about discovering the mountains, ice fields and rivers of Canada’s last frontier.
Travel Geeks online: plan the ultimate Kenya trip
In this online panel discussion, held on 29 Sept 2021, our experts focus on planning a dream trip to Kenya and the adventurous activities, wildlife and culture the country has to offer.

The Travel Media Awards 2021
The Travel Media Awards announced this year’s winners during a successful live event held on 18 October, attended by representatives of the UK’s top travel media. At the event, 20 publications, broadcasters, journalists and photographers were each honoured with a prestigious award.

On 12 October, National Geographic Traveller project editor Jo Fletcher-Cross was joined by travel experts Jamie Lafferty, Jaan-Laur Tähepõld, Kristjan Peäske and Peep Rooks for an event sponsored by Visit Estonia to discuss how best to explore this Baltic nation.

On 23 November, National Geographic Traveller (UK) hosted Travel Geeks: put Saskatchewan on your travel map, an online event sponsored by Tourism Saskatchewan all about the beauty and adventure this Canadian province has to offer.
Travel Geeks: a taste of Malaysia
On 7December, National Geographic Traveller hosted Travel Geeks: a taste of Malaysia sponsored by Malaysia Airlines and Tourism Malaysia to explore all that Malaysia has to offer.
